DR. BILLY INGRAM CELEBRATES 35 YEARS IN MINISTRY

Dr. Billy Ingram will celebrate 35-years of ministry and 27-years as the founder/pastor of Maranatha Community Church, Los Angeles. Dr. Melvin Wade of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church will be the featured speaker at the 6:00 p.m. service.

It was 35 years ago at age 19 that Billy Ingram preached his first sermon with passion for souls and the power of God. He knew at that time he would spend the rest of his life in some form of ministry but what specifically, he did not know. In time, God has been making it known to him what he is to do with his gifts and talents.

Nearly twenty-seven-years ago, God gave a vision and placed a burden on the heart of Dr. Billy Ingram to teach his word in a way that was real and relevant. He desired to have a church that would be inclusive of all races, colors and creeds, one that would really touch the lives of people. The first service was on April 26, 1980, at 10 a.m., at the Airport Park Hotel, formerly in Inglewood, California, across from the Forum.

In 2005, the Gospel Insider recognized his leadership and honored him as a pastor of one of the top ten churches in America.

He was also honored as a recipient of the NAACP 2005 "Man of Valor Award." And, the Huntington's Disease Society of America honored Dr Billy Ingram with the "Humanitarian and Philanthropist" award for 2006.

A short time ago he lent his voice to a noteworthy project called the Bible Experience, which features Denzel Washington and his wife, Pauletta; Blair Underwood; Angela Basset and Kirk Franklin. They're among more than 200 black celebrities reading, singing and composing music for The Bible Experience, a new 70-hour Genesis-through-Revelation dramatic audio performance of the Scriptures. Over the last 25-years, his voice over talent has been used for numerous Narration projects, and Radio and TV commercials.

Dr. Ingram and his lovely wife, Solombra, reside in Los Angeles, CA. They have 5-year-old twin sons.
