Where is God These Days?
As we look at the world around us, as we hear about what people are doing, as we look at what’s happening in our own town and perhaps even observe the people in our own families - those who are nearest and dearest to us, we may wonder - at times - just where is God - today?
As we all know, from our studies of the Bible, God appeared (during the Exodus) as a cloud in the daytime and as a pillar of fire at night.
We also know He spoke (like thunder) when Jesus was baptized. And of course, God came to earth (Jesus) and lived with us for about thirty-three years, a couple of thousand years ago.
Then, it seems, He left in or on a cloud - and since then - silence.
Does God still care about us? There’s no more cloud like the one that was seen by the Israelites. We don’t hear any more thundering voices speaking and we don’t see Jesus walking among us now - or do we?
Think about this for a minute: Apparently, He has changed His tactics and now He visits us some other way, a way different than the Old Testament and different than the New Testament.
Now, in these days, He chooses to be with the people He loves so much in a far more intimate way than ever before. Now we don’t have to ask where God is because we know (by our faith) that God, because of His great love, chooses to live - in us - here and now! That is where God is these days!
