Bless Those Who Curse You Matthew 5:44
It is all well and good to love those who love you, it is quite another matter to bless those who curse you. Let’s have a look at this.
There was two men that were friends. Both of them started at the same Bible college. Other the years they became quite popular. One of the men seemed to have much more successful than his friend. The friend that was jealous started to spread malicious rumours about his friend. Until one day they both had to speak at a conference together. When they met the friend who had been spreading the rumours asked his former friend for forgiveness. The one that had been slandered invited his friend who had been spreading the rumours to the rooftop of the building.
When they arrived, they went to the edge of the building and the friend that had been offended and slandered through a packet of playing cards off the roof of the building. He said to his former friend, “I will forgive you for what you have said about me, if you can pick up all of those cards.”
“I can’t possibly find every one of those cards. They are all over the place.”
” Well I can forgive you, but your words and the damage that has been done can never be full rectified just like all those cards cannot be picked up.”
Could you have that peace and forgive your friend like that?
Blessing a person that curses you is hard work but it is a word of wisdom from Jesus, a directional word about the course for action we should take.
I have a person that has attacked me quite a lot. Telling him that he is forgiven and telling him not to avoid church for my sake really blessed him to hear. Of course he couldn’t help himself and hurt me again that day, but all I can do is bless him and pray for him.
“The prayers of a righteous man avail much” James has to say. As a man of God with little sin in his life, my prayers will be answered according to this friend that hurts me. I ask the Lord to teach him to be a better person and to lead him in righteousness. I pray blessings over his life.
Is there a person that you want to pray a blessing over? Today might be a good day to do it.
Be Blessed
