Blacks and Diabetes
Recent data has indicated that over 21 million Americans have diabetes. A large number of these cases occur in the black community. Too many of us love kool-aid type juices – bug juice, jungle juice and other artificial juices that are heavy ladden with artificial flavors and high fructus corn syrup. This corn syrup which normally converts directly into fat as it enters the body may be another reason for increase in obesity within our community.
The Bible teaches the important of fasting and eating properly. The first chapter in the book of Daniel is instructive as to how we should eat. All the kings men eat meat while those on Daniel side eat vegetables. At the end of the period Daniel men looked better and was stronger. They gained an extra-ordinary improvement in the knowledge and skills in literature and philosophy. They new ten times more than any fortuneteler or magician in the king entire kingdom. We should stay away from these artificial foods and eat more whole foods and natural juices. What do you think?
