Black People Do not Read
I came across an email which was allegedly written by a white individual. The email argues that black people are still slaves because of their philistine consumerist behavior and the fact that black people do not read. The author maintains that the easiest way of hiding something from a black person is to hide it in a book.
Though this stamp does not apply to all black people, it indeed applies to a large number of them. In the Bible it is written: “My son, attend unto my wisdom, and bow thine ear to my understanding: that thou mayest regard discretion, and that thy lips may keep knowledge.” It is written in the Koran: Read and the Lord shall be merciful onto you.
The Bible is penned with so many secret to success )self-reliance, perserverance, knowledge ….) yet so many of us attend Church regularly and still are in a state of poverty.
Friend, it is impossible for a Christian to be poor. He may be broke, but not poor; for poverty is a state of mind, while brokeness is a temperary economic condition.
It is written: ” If any man lacks knowledge let him ask of it.”
My son, put away the bling-bling, the car rims, the fancy clothes and other illusions, and get some books. No one can discreminate against you in purchasing books. No one is blocking the doors of Books-A-Million, Barnes and Nobles, Amazon.com and the likes.
My son, get knowledge and free yourself from illusion. As the Late Brother Bob Marley said, “emancipate yourself from mental slavery, none but us can free our mind”.
